Edwardian Max D’Amour
March brings all types of goodness to our neck of the woods: the trees are budding, afternoon rains roll through and projects abound. We’re approaching the second month in our year-long series “Year of the Tiger”; both myself and my husband find ourselves literally surrounded with work. He, an electrical engineering student in his final months of the program, is in constant build mode. For my part, there are now two art studios in our house: one for handbag constuction, the other used for mammoth installation pieces and tiny 2-D’s on plexi. We’re also packing to move. Needless to say, our house is a visual and utilitarian cornucopia filled with wires, switches, random corseted glass bits, decadent embroidery, bolted plexi, breadboards and stacks of vinyl. It’s as if King Edward VII and the crew from The Road Warrior came by, got really wasted and partied all over the place…..which is exactly what month two will honor: Edwardian Max D’Amour. Expect a very small yet very powerful collection of six available on the website the week of March 15th.

the roadtrip bag
today begins heavy experimentation with PVC (vinyl)…
this prototype bag, the roadtrip, is comprised of two layers of vinyl on the exterior…the top layer sports a hand carved heart heavily embroidered and adhered to a second, contrasting layer of vinyl….the roadtrip will be part of 2010′s new rink line ‘claes oldenburg versus’ which pays homage to the brilliance of oldenburg’s soft sculptures.
